Type 1, 100% Made in USA and Mexico

Type 2

Question 1:
Type 1 100% Made in USA and Mexico.
Is the Type 2 of sheath same made in the USA or only Mexico?

Question 2:
Are these two types of sheaths performed in parallel, or is type 2 an experiment that is rarely found in boxed knives?
By what principle can a Type 1 or Type 2 appear in a box with a new knife? Why is it impossible to buy type 2 on the official website?

Learnt something new. :)

The sheath that came with my SK Blades "The Gentleman" 110 is a "Type 2". :)

I thought it was only just "a (black "distressed" leather) sheath" (also "better"/ more traditional than the nylon 110 sheaths.)

few years back or so all I ever seemed to get was type 2 versions. I kinda prefer them a bit on how they sit on my belt. now, as in newer dates codes, I seem to get only type 1s.

Pretty much the same here, except I prefer the type 1s.

O.B.

That's what I'd rather have as well, it would not have the loose fit the standard 110 sheath has.
My dad's 110 sheath was always snagging on things and getting unsnapped, and his belt loop is kind of stretched out now.
If it were this better type this probably wouldn't be happening.

I like nylon most because it stays close and tight and doesn't stretch. For leather I would rather type 1 so it can hang. I can then tighten the loop by wrapping para-cord around it, as on my 501 here.

A couple questions:
Are the Nylon sheaths a "type 3" or some other type?
Has Buck ever offered as an accessory, or included as "standard" a leather cross draw or open top fitted sheath, either vertical or near horizontal carry, for the 110?

I've seen some nice after market 110 bovine leather sheaths online, but they want more a new 110 with a sheath costs for them. :(
Maybe(?) I'm strange, (ok ... no "maybe" about it), but I have a hard time justifying paying more for a sheath than what the knife costs new, with a "perfectly good" sheath.

In any case, the sheath to the knife is more expensive than the knife - this is a hobby, even if they survive several knives, I think.

Nylon scabbard I don't consider Type 3 because they are NOT leather xD

I like Buck's leather sheathes for looks, but find the nylon sheathes more comfortable for carry and less liable to snag. FWIW, I take my leather sheathes apart, melt in a couple of coats of SnowSeal and re-stitch with heavier waxed nylon thread.

This might be semi off-topic.
What type sheath is "correct" for a 2005 Buck 110?
If not selling the knife, does it matter what type factory sheath it is carried in?
