I've had my Rekat Fang for about 6 months. It couldn't cut butter when I got it (not that bad

) I have worked it like crazy on my Sharpmaker, but can't put a decent edge on it. Can I send it to someone to have it professionally sharpened? (I am probably sharpening impaired.)

Robert, IMO the grind starts a bit low, resulting in a somewhat steep angle. My Utility came this same way, only mildly sharp. I believe a slight re- angling is needed for the edge to be real sharp. I used a Lansky to reprofile the edge and is now able to pop hair off the arm easily. You might try the narrow angle on the 204 if you have one. If only REKAT used a flat grind!

Know what you mean about the fang not biting!
Have two of them. Was ready to put them in the tool box and forget about using them.
Used the edge pro apex, rebeveled the edge and now they are hair popping sharp. Hold an edge very well once they are rebeveled.
Great little knives, made to use. But I could not even begin to sharpen ether one with the sharpmaker.
Others have better technique than I have and could get good results.
You might use the search function to find past threads on this subject.
If you can't get it sharp, send it along, I'll return it as sharp as you want it to be.

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

I used the 203 Sharpmaker with the brown sticks to sharpen my Utility, which arrived from the distributor with the same affliction that is mentioned here. It didn't take TOO long, just a little patience. I think I effectively rebeveled it, but not intentionally. Just sharpened it, patiently for the first go-around. I don't think I've used the white 203 sticks on it yet, and it will shave with the best of them.
