hey guys so ok i just recently got the edge pro i also just got a new knife and the angle of the edge is way to steep to even get the edge pro has to go all the way to the top of the guide rod and even then i just cant get it sharp so my plan was to grind it down and give it a lower angle but i have never done this is the edge pro up to the job? the rest of the knife besides the edge is black powder coat so i wanna make sure i get it right on the first shot i dont want to scratch up more than necessary below are a couple drawings drawing #1 is how the edge looks now drawing #2 is what i want to grind down to change the angle and drawing #3 shows the new edge ( lower angle ) haha i know the drawing aint that good but i think it get my point across. any tips tricks advice and suggestions would really be appreciated as i havent done this with the edge pro i have all the stone the coarsest is 120 so i guess that would do the main grindin. THANKS guys!

The only thing I can think of is to take the blade grind into account when setting the angle. If the blade is full flat ground and you put it flat on the edge pro, the angle will be lower than what you've set on the edge pro, since the center of the blade is pointing downwards. If the blade is sabre ground or has a ricasso and you place it with the flat part against the table, the angle will be what you'd expect.

What knife is it? The top angle of the EP is over 35 deg. (per side), that's pretty steep not to hit the edge, even on a mediocre knife. May want to double check that.

If it is that bad, you don't have to regrind it all at once... you can do it over time, in 5 deg. increments, or whatever you're comfortable with. That way you also don't over grind it. But first I'd recheck your setup.
