Hello all...just found the forum and just at the right time. I am looking to purchase a new pocket knife and would like some suggestions if anyone can please. Wanting to spend up to probably $70 or so. For the most part, I have always went with Kershaw. Looking this time around I started browsing sites instead of just ordering basically the same knife as alway. Checking out Boker and Sypderco, I saw some pretty good knives(to my standards) at reasonable prices. In particular, I am wanting something that is fairly small...blade length around 3 inches or so. Lightweight as well. The two that I have just checked out are the Spyderco Raven and Boker Titanium Zeta. Any suggestions or recommendations are very very much appreciated. Thanks much all. :)

The Spyderco Delica would fill your needs nicely. It is a tough light high performance little Mama.

I like the D2 Grip idea a lot. Also the Spyderco Native (or Native III if you like the handle design better) is a good knife and well within your price range. You can find the Spyderco Centofante models in your price range as well. The Paramilitary is a good knife in your size range, but about $40 over your price range (worth a look if you're willing to spend a little more).

If one hand opening/pocket clip isn't necessary, Buck makes some very good slipjoints for around $30. And there are always Victorinox swiss army knives, a One Hand Trekker would make a fine EDC knife.

Has anyone tried one of the new Leatherman knives? They look like a good deal in 154cm with some added features.

Look around the 'net. For $70 you can get some very nice knives.

Wow thanks very much for all of quick replies. I will definately check out the Spyderco knives that are mentioned. What about Boker? Mainly asking this because of a friend spoke so highly of them. Also wanting one without a clip but if it has one that won't be so bad.

Once you get used to the Spydie hole method of opening a knife the primitive nail nick opener will seem like using a flint knife. The clip allows the knife to be very accessible and secure. The VG 10 steel will please you too.

Yeah, skip all the bull and go directly with the best in the bidness. After all.... Those who know carry Spyderco. :D

Ok I have checked out in detail a few of the Spyderco and the Grip on Cabella's. I really like the more 'sleek' look of the Grip and also the Axis lock as well. Although the Spyderco Centofante line caught my eye as well. The blade on the Delica is also nice. Really torn right now and not sure what to decide on. Funny that my grandfather would be rolling over in his grave if he knew I was thinking or had anything other than a good ol' Case! Any certain advantages of one over the other? Thanks so much for the replies so far everyone.

I have the Regular Grip and the FRN and SS Delica. I find that the FRN Delica gets the most pocket time because of the size, light weight, great steel, GREAT performance, reliability and expendability. I dont really worry about loosing or breaking this knife to much as its relatively cheap and it has stood up to everything i have thrown at it. My vote goes to the FRN delica  One of the best all around knives imo.

I hope this doesn't hinder your decision in anyway. Another knife to possibly consider is the Spyderco Native III. Light weight and great ergos. If it doesn't interest you, I would go with the Delica. It is a very versatile little knife.

Welcome to the party. It's always great to have new members in the forum.

Lots of good suggestions with everyone having their own favorite which to me means there are many quality knife makers to chose products from.

Isn't spending money on knives a great problem to have?

That Zeta looks interesting doesn't it. Haven't heard from any users of "Scintered Titanium" knife blades.

Another knife that many think is BUTT-UGLY but that I like because it will outcut any other knife I own is the 93mm Spyderco "Rescue" knife. It was first recommended by some folks at the fire station when we were talking knives. It is light weight. It has a puggy blunt nose (that won't break off). It has a nice big serrated flat blade with tons and tons and tons of cutting surface. And it is affordable. If you look around you can find one in the Orange color which is handy if you are always putting the knife down to do something and looking to find it again. But it may be too ugly for your tastes.

Leaning towards the Benchmade Grip right now. It seems that most of the Spydero blades are just a bit too long for what I am looking for. Really do like the Spyderco Centofante 4 though. Not trying to be overly picky on this but its just my nature on things like this. Guess I will also check out the next smaller Spyderco's.
