Hello all,

I'm currently looking for a new folder to add to my edc rotation. The ones I really have my eyes on are:

940 Osborne
470-1 emissary
1000001 volli
581 barrage

Cutting tasks will range from picking splinters to cutting zip ties and pallet straps, maybe food prep too. Currently in rotation are a BM 555, 556, and spyderco endura. I would like something the bridges the size gap between those nicely.

So on to the main event! Which of the above listed would you rather have and why? Also which would you consider has the best bang for the buck?

Thanks for the help!

If its size that you're choosing from, go with the voli, but I would go with the 940 ;) I would rather have the 940 because for what I would use it for(not much more than you) it would work perfectly fine for the life of the knife, and it looks great and it's thin and easy to carry.

581 Barrage.

It's a tiny bit heavy at 5.20oz. but not uncomfortable to carry, and honestly you won't know you're carrying it unless you think about it. M390 blade steel is fantastic and the G10 scales with aluminum bolsters (matte finish, not shinny) give it class, and finally the blade shape is good for slicing, poking and general cutting. I own two of them and also two of its little brother - the 586 which you might like if looking for something a little lighter and smaller.

The 94x should fit the bill. I have used mine to do all the things you listed and it performed those tasks very capably.
