Hi all, I am flying home to the u.s. For a visit and plan to go to knifeworks in Louisiana with my father next month. I want to get him a knife but I I know he lacks patience so I want to have a handful of good ideas lined up to show him. He likes the mini grip blade shape and size I know. I was just wondering if bm makes anything else in that size with a similar blade shape that y'all would recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Lance

I can relate. My advice, if your going w/ him to the shop, is to be patient w/ him. Make a few suggestions, however w/ my , sometime impatient Pops, Ill stuff my hands in my pockets, and keep tight lipped, watch and wait....at the very least, this will allow the sales person take the brunt of his growl and snap :D.

The 707 is a great suggestion. See what he gets hot for...let him choose, if he can. Sounds like a good time.

If your going to knife works get him a Ritter mini Grip in s30v since theh are only sold there. great blade shape and steel. you can also look at the mini presidio and presidio ultra. I love my ultra its a really nice knife. and like the others said the 707 is amazing

Mini Barrage and Mini Presidio are about the same length. Or the Emissary. He may not like the Axis Assist of the Barrage though.

Another vote for the 707...got one myself and actually got one for my father this Christmas as well. I think its a nice step up from the mini grip, love the blade shape on it.

Edit:

Here's a photo comparison of the Mini Grip, 707, and Mini Presidio. I like the Mini Presidio a lot as well, its a little bit beefier and heavier though unlike the the 707 which disappears when you carry it

Ha! Well,I talked to my dad yesterday and told him I wanted to take him knife shopping when I came home and he said "too late"! He just bought himself three benchmades for Christmas! Mini grip, bone collector, and emissary. He said he loves em but likes the emissary the least. I told him I was going to suggest the 707 and he said "let's go shopping. Maybe I'll get one of those too." Guess he's one of us! Hehehe :D

LOL that's awesome!! I also have an emissary and it is a great knife but I have come to realize I just don't like assisted knives. Now that your dad has been turned you can get him some custom scales for that new mini grip for fathers day :D
