as title suggests, i am looking for a fixed bowie similar to the folding spyderco blackhawk. i know of a few models (ka-bar) but want to know what you guys think of for a reltively small (<10 inches), durable, cheap (<$100, cheaper the better), good quality (s30v or something similar, but not necesarily) knife. i have a few folding knives and really like the steel of my spyderco manix.

im sorry if this has been asked numerous times, but i couldnt search for some reason and figured my "specifications" give me an excuse to make a new post.

thanks for posts and hello

chances are you'll be much better of with a carbon steel in a medium to large fixed blade. Stainless steels tend to be too brittle to handle a lot of abuse in knives that size. Under a hundred dollars the becker line comes to mind immediately. Great knives, I had a bk9 bowie that was awesome, currently I've got a brute thats I like even better. Great knives, all except the s30v model, can be had for under a hundred bucks. Ranger Knives are quite reputable also.

I have seen the Blackjack Anaconda II for around $120.00. Its blade is made from AUS-8A. Not S30V, but a pretty good stainless. Blade is 10".

After searching a bit, two other good choices are fallkniven and entrek. Good luck.

thanks for all the help. im chosing between a becker bk7 and bk9 and will probably go with the bk7.
