Help convince me to get a BK-7!!!

Hello all,

So, long story short, I'm looking for a cheapish knife but decent knife to strap to my LBE for ROTC labs because I miss the feeling of having a nice fixed blade around. Right now it is between the "Ontario Spec Plus SP1 Marine Combat", and "Ontario Spec Plus SP8 Fighter" (Need to handle those in person to determine which). Or, the BK-7. To be honest I was looking for something smaller but when I can have two more inches of knife for the same price it's hard to say no. Basically I need more pictures of naked BK-7s with stunning patinas and shiny blades to convince me. I was hoping you all could help with that.

I'm just north of Everett.

The 7 is a pretty awesome blade. I've played with a couple of the ontario blades before, and I didn't like it that much.

ROTC is a high school thing right?? do they really allow you to have a knife on campus??

just curious as my brother was rotc.. in high school that is..

but to help curve your decision, the 7 is a nice knife, adn like you pointed out, more for ya dolla....

I prefer the fisk stripe to stripped and shiny but here ya go.....

And if ya want more for your buck, look into the bk5. One of my favorites. Far right in this pic

The 7 has quickly become one of most used and favorite knives. (still love the 9 for the "shock and awe" thing when you want it though )

7 can do just about anything. Not too heavy, too short or long. Battons, chops, slices, and the tip is good for small/fine work too.

GREAT all around knife.


Not too many pics of it. Haven't stripped it yet either, just swapped out some handles. (so no "shiny' pics)

Yes, college ROTC, high school is Junior ROTC (JROTC). And the knife is for labs. Basically we run around the woods shouting "bang, bang!!" with Rubber Ducks. Not the best training for a future infantry army officer but ah well, that's why I'm going to basic anyway!

ex, you could go with the 5. I have one of those also. Those are pretty awesome knives also.

i'd say just buy the BK7

Skip the Ontario. Avoid the shame

Why BK7 over the Magnum Camp (BK5) or BK2? I'd carry the BK2 without hesitation if I were going over to the sandbox (I am not in the service). Ability to do a bit of light breaching by prying, light in hand, better sheath, cheaper too.

To be honest I like the look of the 7 more then the 2, that's really my only justification for getting the 7. And the bk5 is too long/scary looking I don't want to scare the females and draw too much attention to myself. I suppose the 2 would be perfect for that but, like I said, I like the look of the 7 too much haha.
