I am thinking of getting a custom tracker knife. But I can't decide if I should get it with a serrated blade or not. I'm looking for peoples opinions and reccomendations and why. This is an example of where the serrated edge would be, I belive you all know what it would be without it. Well I can not figure out how to post a picture on here yet. If you google felix francisco damascus bushcraft tracker knife it is like the third link, or if this helps the serrated edge is on the first part of the blade the recessed portion or "draw knife?" I don't know the technical name for that area. I hope that helps. Thank you.

i personally think that, if you can keep it sharp, serrations are not necessary. just from looking, i think that blade would be heavy enough to chop through a good bit of small stuff without having to have serrations to help it out.

What exactly does a tracker knife do? If it involves working with wood to make traps, tools, arrows, scraper, etc., just how will you do that with a serrated edge?

Sometimes, people make knives just for lookin' at.

OP asked his Q in 2011. The Damascus looks very cool, but may not be a necessary recommendation at this time.
