Help date my old 119

Hi Guys. I have an old 119 I just got that has just BUCK on the tang with an asterisk after it. I know that the dates for a one line tang of just BUCK is 1961-1967 but what is the significance of the asterisk after it?

What I have in my notes is that stamp began in early 67. It is not officially known the reason for the asterisk. DM

Joe Houser's guess is that the asterisk might denote a change from forged to blanked blades in 1967 (Newsletter May 2001).

The May newsletter puts that stamp as only used in 1967. DM
