hey all,

I have this nice scout pattern, I was told it was a 60's date but i think that little smudge below the case mark is a cross which i think means 70's...i think, i think - but I'm knew to transnationals as you might be able to tell.

I don't want to post a url to another site, but you can do a google search with "how to date a case knife" and you can find the correct info. My search brought up the site with the needed charts as the first result.

P.S.: Like that CASE scout pattern you have. Great looking knife with a lot of years left, no doubt.

I've looked at the chart, thanks though :)

the 60's vs 70's dates are hard for me to distinguish though, I think it's 79, but I'm not sure.

and thanks again :)

that's gonna be a seventy's knife you can tell by th delrin scales and the case shield with no circle around the word case.

Thank you! I was wondering if there was another way to tell, appreciate it, was also wondering about the scales :)

I like the 70's as well as the 60's :), it's still older then me by a little. It just caught my eye, have to say I didn't think I'd like it this much though, it's got such a s nice solid feeling to it, which is why I like alox saks over plastic, and now why I might like this over alox.

Also, it looks nice :) thanks for saying so, thought I might be alone:thumbup:

Dinner and a drink afterwards?

(Sorry!)

:o

That is a nice knife. I used to have one like it (also '70s vintage) in stainless, given to me by my dad a very long time ago. I used to carry it when he & I went camping, fishing or backpacking. Somewhere in the decades since, the knife went missing from my collection, and I've missed it greatly. Still don't have any idea when it got lost, or how. :(

thank you for the story, I'm sorry you lost the knife, didn't have one growing up and always hope I could do that for my kids.
