I have a really old imperial schrade barlow knife, belonged to my great grandfather, looking to find value and age of it, so i can insure it for what it's worth.
if you've got any insight into how I can find this out, let me know what info you need to help me determine it.

If you are unable to provide pictures...

Is it a Schrade?

Or an Imperial?

Pick a stamp off of these two charts.
Describe the handle material. Bone or synthetic?
What is general knife condition?
How many blades and how much have they been sharpened
What is the closed length of the knife?
Is there anything engraved on the bolster?

If it is an old Schrade Cut Co Barlow, you might look on page 16 of this catalog:

it's an imperial, the last stamp on the second chart. it looks like a synthetic, not sure.
it's old, beat up, and rusty
2 blades, the main blade is so dull that i don't think it's ever been sharpened lol, the small blade, i'm not sure, but it's reasonably sharp.
i'd say around 3 or 4 inches, dont have a ruler right off hand.
"BARLOW" is stamped on the bolsters.

I don't think there's need for insurance. Obviously of significant sentimental value, but as far as $$$ value goes... If the handles are synthetic, it would not bring much at all in used condition. Those were good users, but not one collectors cough it up for. If you search for "imperial barlow" on ebay, you'll get an idea of value and availability.

If you clean and sharpen it up, it would be a great cutter.
