Hi,
I posted a query about the age of this knife on the knife collecting forum and got one reply that it was made prior to 1971. I thought I would post it again on this forum and see if I could get closer to the date of manufacture.
The blade is 8"(!). The grip is of ebony wood (not micarta). The guard is nickel silver, the butt is brass and the retaining nut is not flush, but sits proud on the surface (can't see this in the photo). The sheath has smooth nickel plated snaps and the back of the sheath is rough. The fiber spacers are rust brown, white and slate gray.
The sharpening stone is gray and has a rough and coarse side--and is marked "Combination Crystolon-Made in U. S. of A" in yellow letters. I have no idea if it's original or not.
Any opinions on the age of this knife would be appreciated. Thanks for your help, DD
