Hi folks

Do any of you knowledgable people know if Buck made the 302 in white bone?

Don't think so. Here are some other 302's. The gray, yellow, and Chairman versions are now extinct. I think available currently are the black sawcut and brass/rosewood (not shown). I need to update my family picture.

Spooky! Must be the Halloween season. I was just admiring this one today.

I've seen that one. Looks like a 2010 model. It says new in the box, so I guess Buck made them. The black around the pins and bolsters has me a little puzzled though. I guess that's normal.

I love the 302 Solitaire . Love Love Love. Great knife. I carry one always. Don't leave home without it. Fantastic.

It doesn't look quite right to me. I can't imagine Buck using an epoxy that want color stable. Where's 300 when you need him?

They've not made a 303 with bone that I'm aware of. I can't imagine them just doing the 302.

I am napping so I can stay awake for all the world series game if it lasts past my bedtime.......

I think someone is fooling with us.... I have never seen a production 302 in bone, only the ones shown. I do have one offered as prototype in the Buck store in smooth black. I think they only did a hundred of those and never put them in production. The 302 has strong lovers and a whole bunch of "why do I want a one blade stockman" non-supporters. I will not defend my feelings real strongly as I have a 55 in bone from about the date mentioned. But, I dyed it brown with RIT.

Yeah, that looks like the same one I was looking at. I was very skeptical because of the looks. I thought I would ask about it. I would love to have one in bone, however.

I love the 302. Unlike the 301, the 302 does not have spring issues and I generally only need the one blade, anyway. Also, the handle fits my 'dainty' mitts nicely.

I do not know. But there is no doubt that the springs on every 302 I have ever handled are better than the springs on any modern 301. They are like Goldilocks and her beds and porridge. They are not too strong, but they are not too weak. They are just right.

What I really want, and badly, is a yellow Delrin model. If anyone sees one for sale, please message me.

Is it possible that the presence of extra blades and spacers cause more friction in the pivot?

Is the opposite end of the spring on the 302 fixed to the bolster? If it is, it would make sense that the spring has more tension. Imagine a seesaw... If you put a barrel under one end, the tension lifting the opposite side (blade side) would be greater.

I don't have a 302 to examine, so don't crucify me if that's not the case. I guess the odd blade of a 303 would be the same configuration as the single blade on a 302?

The seller has been around for a long time and I've purchased a few Bucks from him over the years. I, too, was suspicious that the slab fit seems a little sloppy and the knife doesn't have a Buck escutcheon. Here is the website description. It would be interesting to see the box.

Proudly made in the USA 2010

The 302 Solitaire offers a choice to those looking for a larger pocket knife, yet also a simple, more slimline one. Many find they only need and use one blade, so why carry the extra weight? Smooth genuine white bone handle scales. High satin finished 420HC stainless steel clip point blade. Solid one piece nickel silver bolsters and liners. Nickel silver handle pins. New in box.
