Hey guys, I just recently picked up a Strider second hand, and I'm trying to figure out the exact mode that it is. I'm not a Strider expert at all, but I believe that it's an SMF with titanium scales. Any more info or suggestions beyond that would be helpful. Thanks!

looks like one of Mick Strider's personal production units from his MSK offshoot of Strider.

That's one solid looking knife:thumbup:

As for the model, isn't it written on the baggie? :D

No, I purchased it second hand, and I'm having doubts about it's authenticity. It looks and feels great though.

That's definitely Mick's John Hancock on the choil there. I don't think you need to worry about the authenticity.

It's real, it is a custom as stated earlier, it is going to look different than the production models that is most commonly seen on most sites. Go look at the ones on knife art and Arizona custom knives. They have pics of Strider customs.
If you think is fake, let me know and I'll make a sacrifice and take it off your hands. :)

Just to let the above posters know...many of the fakes now come with that exact signature on it. I do not know enough about these knives to tell if the original one posted is real or not but here is a fake one I just found a picture of.

That's the thing, it doesn't seem like the signature is physically engraved as much as maybe laser engraved. I don't know if that matters. And I did see a fake on eBay that looked the same.

After looking at the one on the bay, if you run your finger on the signature and it doesn't feel like it's engraved then it's probably laser and that is an indication of a fake and if the pivot on the non lock side is not flush and is protruding out any, it probably is a fake. You would be right in the authenticity of the knife. The fakes are getting good. If either of the two are qualities of your Strider then it is a fake and I jumped the gun in my first assessment

The engraving is laser, I'm fairly certain. These knives still sell for a good bit on eBay, and it is well built, so it's not a total loss, just disappointing. I'm glad I know though, the last thing I want to do is cheat someone on a deal. That being said Ajack60 do you still want it? ;)

If it wasn't a clone I'd throw it up in the classifieds and try to get my money back. I'll probably put it on ebay. If someone does want it shoot me a pm. Thanks guys!

Man, I hate Chinese forgeries... like Ajack60 said, it is getting harder and harder to tell the fakes from the originals, especially on eBay.

No brother, I'm not into fakes, sorry to see it's not the real deal

A custom "simple" like that goes for around 1000$
So if you paid a couple hundred sorry is not the real deal

That knife is a clone. I'm 100% certain, sorry to tell you. One like that is on ebay right now for $320 from the Ukraine. It was sold on Aliexpress a couple years ago. If you have any real Striders you can confirm because the hardware isn't from USA, it's metric, and it's different size. Take out the pivot you will see the thread pitch is different. I bought a fake SMF and SNG when I 1st saw Alibaba, it was when I was 1st transitioning from low to high end knives. At that time I recently bought my 1st real SMF and I wanted to see the difference. The clones are close but there are very concrete ways to tell. The best is the Hardware. Strider gets it's hardware custom made, it's all the same. A pivot from a 5 year old SMF will be the same as a new one. Now I have a ridiculous collection of Striders and I'm certain I can tell the chinese fakes

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback, I'm convinced that it is a fake. At least these seem to sell for reasonable amounts that should help me get most of my money back out.
