hey there knuts.

my apprentice has asked me to find a knife for him.

He has a gerber something (ripoff CRKT M16) and he loves it (never held a 200 plus knife;)) well now he wants something similar relating to astrology.

He wants a blade (satin finish or whatever, not black) with a scorpion on it. he isn't looking for a heap of detail but any help is better than none.

he is not really a knife user as I am, he is more a mall ninja, but his money is good and he'll spend up to about 150US.

he'll take a fixed as well, hes already interested in the kizlar hunter, but thats a bit more detail than what he wants.

thanks in advance guys, it helps me as much as him ;) (finders fee)

He might like a Cold Steel Master Hunter or their SRK Survival Rescue Knife. He should be able to get a nice scorpion engraved on the blade of either one and still have money left over. Cold Steel has lots of folders, too.

thats a good idea.

who would I contact for the engraving? or should I look into the local engravers?

Just to let you know. The Fallkniven knives F1 (just smaller than the Master Hunter and the A1 (like the SRK) and the S1 in between are good knives too, and you can get them engraved (lasered) from the factory :)
Look at www.fallkniven.com for examples. You decide, I just wanted to give you another option.

In the area where I live there is an old master gunsmith who does engraving, but I realize there probably aren't many gunsmiths (of any skill level) anywhere in Australia due to your government's restrictive laws on the possession and use of guns. It is possible that you might find a jeweler to do custom engraving for you. Nodh (in Sweden) had a suggestion that should be worth looking into, namely factory engraved Swedish knives. Good luck. I have to ask, though, what is your apprentice's fascination with astrology or scorpions? An interest is one thing, but having an astrological sign engraved on one's knife is a little extreme in my opinion. Tell the kid to stick himself with the point of a knife and pretend he got stung by a scorpion. :D

I talked to a gunsmith about engraving and checkering. He didn't ask for an arm and a leg, but he was eying my firstborn. Try someone local. Maybe Oupa (a.k.a. Dirk Potgieter) might be able to help you out. At least he's in the country.

Tim
