I've been looking for a non-traditional folder to meet the following criteria, and so far coming up empty:

Closed length no greater than 3.5"
Closed width no greater than 1.5"
One-handed open (I prefer flippers or thumb hole over thumb studs)
Less than $100.

Lemme see what you ninjas got for me!

first thing that came to mind was the spyderco endura. it has a 2.88" blade much thinner than 1.5" thumb hole and around $70. you could also look at the ZT0350 its an assisted flipper that meets your requirements.

When I look up Spyderco Endura, all of my results are for the Endura 4, which looks to be 5 inches closed - too big. I want it to fit into the watch pocket of my jeans for an incognito casual carry. The small I boker I carry there now is sized perfectly, but does not offer an easy one-handed open.

ZT0350 also way too big.

I'll take a look at the dragonfly 2. I have eyeballed that one before, but I don't think I've ever put my hands on it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Sorry my mistake for some reason I saw closed lenght as blade length haha which was why i said endura and zt. Now that im seeing it right I will also recommend the dragonfly I have the zpd version and its amazing the edge lasts so long, might even last longer then any other blade i have. If you want somethj g extremely cost effective the spyderco ambitious is a great low cost knife not sure how wide it is closed but for around $30 its a great little knife to have

A few suggestions:

Spyderco Dragonfly series (this one is a SS Tattoo):

Or for a flipper, the fun little Ripple series (this one a Blue Stainless version, make sure to get the smaller version of the two of each model to be under your length requirement *EDIT: actually, I grabbed a ruler and the small Ripples are just over--I guess this one is out):

Or for the biggest little knife you ever used, a Cold Steel Tuff Lite:

Admittedly, the Tuff Lite would be pushing the 1.5" width closed limit, or at least would be right at it--it would be pushing the closed length a touch as well. Of course the smaller version, the Mini Tuff Lite, would be under the limits if that was an issue:

I can think of a bunch more--*EDIT: or maybe not, I just measured some I was going to also suggest and most of them are a bit over the closed length requirement--but I'm tired now and these are where I'd start.

Thanks, EvilG, for all that input! I'll look some of these up and try to get hands on a few. I'm leaving OKC tomorrow, where I was very disappointed by the only 'reputable' knife shop I could find In town. Perhaps I'll have better luck in Corpus Christi. . . .

I'm deciding between a Spydie Dragonfly 2 and the Cricket. Both got a little more exciting when I found I could get Nishijin scales. Hoping for a chance to hadle at least one of them soon. Any body know where to buy Spyderco in Corpus Christi?
