hey guys i have alot of knives wich i always sharpen my self but as far as swords go all i have is a cheepo ninja (straight) sword and fantasy sword and a katana now the katana is just a wall hanger NOT usableby any means its plain stainless steel it is not full tang and when i bought it it had what i guess would be called a false edge (no edge on the blade what so ever) since i actually put a edge on it with a metal file and sharpening stones i am looking into getting my hands on a battle ready or functional katana i have done alot of surfing the web looking and have come across MANY that say functional or battle ready ( full tang good carbon steel and very sharp edge) i have come across many in all shapes and sizes and prices now i am not looking to spend alot maybe around 100$ give or take i have seen some that look prity good around 100-140 $$$.....what i want is a good strong solid sword with good steel full tang blade and a razor edge (i can always sharpen it but would rather have it razor sharp out of the box so then i will only have to touch up every once in a while) but also i need it to actually do as the name describes and be functional it needs to stand up strong if i want to go cut up some mats, bamboo, or bottles...like i said i have found sooooo many i dont know wich way to look anymore i would really appreciate any suggestions of a specific companies or even a specific sword the one thing i would ask is if you post a suggestion please do so with personal experience of a sword you had or seen/used and were happy with i just dont want to get suggestions that are just hear say and may not be completely accurate that said again i would really appreciate any tips references or suggestions very much THANKS EVERYONE

hi i think you should just get a leaf spring from a car and heat it up then beat the hell out of it until it looks like a sword kinda then sharpen it on the stones and wrap the handle up in duct tape it will be fun to make your own sword or maybe you should sharpen the ninja sword they are underrated

i would probably go with one of the cheaper hanwei paul chen swords, practical katana ect..
or a Ronin entry level cutter for $130 is probably the best buy
or the cheaper 1045 or 1060 cheness swords. there are several for under $200

real katanas are not full tang.

i believe the choices i said are the best bang for your dollar.
a paul chen tactical katana is full tang, but its not a really a katana..
