I would appreciate it if you guys could recommend a good watch that meets all of these specs:

-analog
-I'd like to be able to tell time in the dark(not an absolute must)
-metal band, preferably titanium or steel(leather is ok, too)
-sapphire or mineral crystal(must have a fairly scratch resistant and tough crystal)
-quite tough(I don't treat my watches roughly on purpose, but hey, accidents happen:) )
-not to fancy looking, but not to tactical looking, either.
- under 300 dollars, but I really want to spend a lot less! I set that price so that I could see a greater variety of watches.

Thanks!

Jeff

Good luck finding a saphire crystal watch in that range, but my recommendations would be Esquire, Roven Dino, Swiss Army (NOT Wenger) and although I doubt they come at that price, a Sector.

Good luck and hope someday you sell your soul and buy a nice Breitling, they are worth it;

I've actually seen quite a few watches with sapphire crystals in that range, but I know that I haven't seen all of them;)

(that's why I posted this topic)

Here are some options for you...

Here's a review on the Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar. It can be had for under $200 on many internet sites. Several times, www.Ashford.com had this watch listed for under $100. The "beater" darling on www.TimeZone.com members, who aren't usually that enamored with quartz watches.

The Seiko diver watches have a variety of tough models in your price range.

Wayne Lee has a variety of nice watches in this price range, and a sterling reputation to boot. I particularly like the Orient Power Reserve Automatic that he sells for $160 shipped. Unfortunately he's out of stock at the moment. Here are a couple of additional pics taken by a TimeZone moderator:

The Military Watch Resource and County Comm also have several items in your price range.

Keep on eye on the Timezone sales corner. Every once and a while a good watch goes for a really good price.

Tissot has a lot of watches that meet your description for under $300. I think some of the PR50s have some dark visibility; certainly the PR100s do.

Hell, for $150 I'll sell you one with a moon phase -- but you can't read it in the dark.

Another one that may be nice is the St. Moritz Format 2. I've seen it a few places but have no direct experience.

Some of the Citizen Promaster series might be what you are looking for?
