I recently ran across several member of the Arkansas National Guard. They were carrying bowies made by the late Jimmy Lile, they didn't know who had taken over the manufacturing.

Just hoping someone might have more information. It is a neat piece of military history that I would like to own if possible

Thanks in advance

The February issue of "Knives" magazine has about 15 or so custom Bowie Smiths in the first 10 pages. Try there maybe,,,

Jimmy Lile passed away back in 1991. His wife ran the company for a few years with Jimmy's shopworkers making knives - the Lile knives made after his death have a dot over the "I" in his last name. If I'm not mistaken the Lile shop is no longer in operation. You can find a genuine Lile Bowie on the net occasionally but they usually go for a premium price

If you're looking for a custom "user" I would suggest looking at a maker like Sam Butler who makes a very nice Bowie at a reasonable price.
