Hey, I'm searching for a strong tactical folder capable of enduring stress and being used as the occasional pry bar, G-10 handle with a blade no longer then 4'' as I'm putting together a small urban B.o.B with plenty a room of carrying my everyday things:

poncho,
mini first aid kit
handling gloves
warm gloves
exothermic chemical reaction ultra warmers
mini pry-bar

ipod speakers
1day homemade MRE
Nalgene water bottle
100' 550

It may not be what you have in mind but I just received my Byrd Flight which I paid about $25 for. I bought it out of curiosity, but I am extremely impressed. This thing is a tank and it just reeks quality. G-10 handles over steel liners. Back lock with absolutely no blade play. Fantastic ergos. I took it apart to examine the lock and it mates perfectly. The blade steel is 8Cr13MoV which is similar in composition to AUS-8. I'm not a huge fan of AUS-8, but I've done some pretty heavy cutting with this knife since I got it on Tuesday, and it holds an edge very well. The out of box sharpness was not very good, but it was very easy get it hair splitting sharp on my Sharpmaker.

If the knife is going to live in your BOB it might be a good option. That way you don't spend $100 on a knife you never or hardly ever use.

wow, Mini Ti PrySTR bars preorder number 2 by STR is really neat.

now you got me drooling for one to add to my kit :D

Even with the lanyard you can hardly feel the weight. Being titanium they are TOUGH.

My BOB is my everday bag, I carry it everywhere with me, money is no object as I want the best. Then again I dont mind paying less for the best either

Thanks Cabron, longbeachguy for vouching for the knife, I think I'll add it to the list.

Be careful. They have lots of cool stuff. If you fall into County Comm, you may come back up again without your wallet.

I found a small pry-bar I suspected my g/f had in her car.

not as fancy, but should do the trick, it's pretty light too.

I would say a Griptilian or a Military, and a pocket prybar. Even if my knife could handle it, what if you happen to overstress it because you are "stressed" and you break your only folding knife! I would back it up with an Opinel or for a little more money, a Spyderco Native.

Have you considered an Emerson? You can get an unwaved 7 for around 100 bucks. Lots of friends with Emersons love them, but all the other knives suggested here are great...
