Hi,

I am resurrecting my Dell computer after the system files became corrupted.

It is a Dell Vostro machine, so it supposedly has all my productivity software installation files on a hidden partition.

My Dell Vostro is going on 4 years old and is no longer supported by Dell.

Does anyone know how to access the hidden partition?

Thanks!

Got me but here's a thought:

Start / Settings / Control Panel / Folder Options / View / Under "Hidden Files and Folders"- Check "Show hidden Files and Folders".

Also (maybe) below that is "Hide protected operating system files (Recomended)" Uncheck it also if needed?

Do you have the original Dell disks that came with the pc ?

You're having one hell of a bad week :D

They didn't include any disks. They said everything I would need is in the hidden partition. Except they never told me how to access the partition and now want $100 for that information from their "Support Desk" now that my warranty has expired.

I guess I could try that, but I don't think it will work.

If its a hidden partition, then it would have its own drive letter.

On other computers with recovery partitions you have to hold down one of the function keys (f12, f6, f3...) or ESC as it's starting, before the windows stuff starts loading.

Hit f8 on during the boot and select restore to factory. The files are in the D: partition.

Every brand is different, but it's usually some secret key combination during startup. Daniel's instruction are how I remember it on some.
