Help finding Spyderco Calpyso Jr

Hi, I'm looking for my first pocket knife. I'm interested in Spyderco knives, as they seem to be loved by a lot of people and their designs are quite unique. Specifically, I'm looking at the Delica 4 and the Calypso Jr. If someone knows of a site that sells the calypso jr (as it is discontinued) that would be great! Otherwise, a nice delica 4 deal will do just as nicely. Also, if anyone has better suggestions, feel free to help me out, as I am looking for a nice first pocket knife that will last me a long time. Thanks forum members in advance.
 
The Delica 4 is much thicker bladed and at the edge even with the ZDP version. An alternate to the Caly jr. in ZDP is the Jess Horn ZDP. It has the same thin ZDP blade with a San Mai design like the Caly jr. The Jess Horn you are looking for is a reddish burgundy color, but I don't recall the stock number. As it is less well known than the highly coveted Caly jr. it's likely to be a bit cheaper as a lot of people don't know the same performance can be had in a similar lightweight linerless lock back design. Man are they ( both) slicers!

Thanks for your reply. What about the gray frn vg 10 version that Spyderco put out? Do you know of any site I can find it from, because i sure can't find it since its discontinued.
 
They are pretty much all gone from the stores. They were released and discontinued years ago. Every now and again someone will release a couple NIB ones but they were safe queens not unsold stock at some store. They were gobbled up pretty quickly because of the size, weight, build, steel and slicing ability in a small package for about $60 NIB back then. I bought 4 or 5 myself and sold them off at the same price over the years. Goint to try to send you PM or e-mail. I know what store The Mastiff is thinking of. If you have deep pockets they have a large amount of hard to find and discontinued Spydercos.

I got really lucky a few months ago and found a site with a few black frn serrated Caly Jrs for $40 and picked one up, but they are all sold out now. If you are patient they do come up on the exchange and the big auction site from time to time.

If you can't find one for a good price, you may want to check out the Chaparral. It's a great little knife.
