Help finding the maker

Hi,

I have a beautiful pair of knives that have a makers mark that is either a butterfly or two "B" back to back. There is also a tree or plant extending up the blade of each knife. They appear to be some type of hunting knife with maybe a stag handle. There is also a #2 next to the marks on one side and a 76 on the other side of the blade. I would really like to know more about the maker and craftsman. Any help or suggestions on how to find out would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Lets start with you showing some photos, that would make things a bit easier.

Thanks - should have added them originally.

I tried for you and checked the Knives Annual 1984. No such mark mentioned. THere are a couple of makers with first and last names with B, but I would not submit these are theirs.

That said, since one of the knives is numbered #2 it's probably an original first time set from a talented hobbyist maker. Using a vibro-tool to etch a mark is as rudimentary as you get. Better than NO mark! LOL

I doubt you have anything here other than a couple of hard made knives that someone was proud of when they made them. Now you ought to be.

Thanks for the post. Welcome.

Jim
