Hey all it's nice to be back on the site again, it been a few years. I need help. I have a friend who wants a first knife (fixed blade) he loves the look of the screaming eagle from tops. I want to get him a solid knife for survival/hiking etc any suggestions? I'm looking to spend 150ish if possible.

Wow. You're a hell of a friend.

OT, If you're looking for a solid survival/hiking/outdoor/etc knife, then you might aswell take a look at the Beckers. Very strong knives. Any of them are great, not just a particular model. It seems like all of them are very popular. Take a look at the BK2, BK7, BK9, and even BK10. There's more, but those seem to be pretty popular when it comes to the outdoors.

Well we've been friends since before kindergarten and I'm 32 now :) I'll look into those thanks. Any other suggestions welcome

The Ontario Ranger line looks good, I haven't handled any yet but I'm going to fix that soon. If you haven't already, take a look into ESEE as well.

+1

I would look at some other ontario's as well. Like the RTAK 2 and the rat 7, and some of their Gen 2 series knives.

Perhaps an ESEE 3 or 4? Either would make a nice little hiking knife, imo... or an Izula with kit.

Thanks for the assist all. I think I'll be going the bk 7 route and I just might get one for myself ;)

Yeah, buddy. That's the way to go. Next thing you know, you'll be a Beckerhead.

For the price, Beckers are just amazing work knives.
