I get my DSL via Nevada Bell. I've just called them to transfer service and they tell me it will take three weeks.

I'm on AOL but have the bring your own service which doesn't allow me the option of dialup with AOL. Best I can figure if I change to dial up service it won't go into effect until 11/16, next billing cycle.

So this puts me dead in the water.

How can I get online?

Experts??

You could look for a local service provider to hook you up through your phone line. That has the disadvantage of tying up the line, though, and it would be slow.

If you have that service in your area. Quick setup, costs about what cable TV might run.

I use it, and damn is it fast. Road Runner is the name of the folks that peddle the hi-speed data access here in Indy.

Got a quick and dirty fix. Contacted AOL and upgraded to dial up service which they put into immediate effect for me. So, I won't be dead in the water but my phone will be busy all the time I'm online so if you try to call next week and get the busy signal you'll know why. DSL should be back online in about one month from today.

Isn't ironic that the fastest internet service takes the longest to get installed?? :(  ...

It took mine four weeks to get hooked up too. ...

When I was in Spearfish, I had a local dial up ISP just in case the cable modem went caput. ... something it did quite often.

Good luck with the switch over.

Just talked to Uncle and he's going with an AOL dial-up for the next 3 weeks apparently. Hassle, but can survive it that way for 3 weeks. Leastways that's what he says. More properly that's what I think I heard him say.

I'm waiting for something to go wrong -- always does. So if you see me disappear for awhile you'll know it's Murphy's law in action.

And thanks for great help and concern, Rusty. Your call much appreciated.

Murphy's Law is the basis of all other laws in this Universe today.
Uncle Bill, do you have an option for ATT cable,. internet access?
I use them here for everything..phone, fax, tv and internet..cost effective as a package and often specials for free install...service is great unlike Qwest whom I battled with for three years, dial up then ISDN...worth a try, you can check therm out online at www.att.com
Good luck!

Oopp's, just checked for you and service is not available...sorry
Murphy's Law prevails!

That's what we're talking about. I'd guess that senior trailer parks are not fertile grounds for ATT super packages.
