image.jpeg image.jpeg I have a Rick Menefee Lannys Clip with Ivory coloured micarta handle. These have got a bit dirty and scratched with age and gone a little dull. What's the best way to clean them up and polish them back to new ?

Micarta can be cleaned with soap and water. Rick has done "spa treatments" in the past,

I have a toothbrush that I cut the bristles down to about 1/4" for cleaning micarta and getting into jigged bone. I normally use dish soap and water, but I have on the rare occasion used baking soda when something slightly more abrasive was needed or could be used.

Baking soda was used on a canvas micarta handled fixed blade to get some heavy grime out of.

Just buff it out with some Flitz and a touch of Rem Oil mixed with some mineral oil.

Flitz polish works on micarta. I also use a toothbrush, soap and water first.

I purchased new white g10 scales for a knife that shouldn’t be named here. For one big mistake white shows everything.:rolleyes:What I use to bring it back to new is a mr clean magic eraser and warm water. I’ve only ever used the name brand one so I can’t say if the off brand ones do the same but I can’t see why they wouldn’t. It worked on g10 so I don’t see why it wouldn’t on micarta maybe try a small spot first?

Just remember magic erasers are abrasive, much like high grit sandpaper.

Don't use Flitz metal polish unless you steer clear of the metal. When the polish goes on the metal, it removes a little and turns black, and then the black gunk's up your micarta to a point that is very, very difficult to resolve.

Dish soap is fine to clean. I you want the scratches removed just send it for a spa treatment, that requires sanding and/or buffing.
