Hi, pardon me, but I am a total newb when it comes to sharpening. Recently, I purchased a Spydero Sharpmaker and used it on my Ritter Mini Grip and various SAKs. The Sharpmaker was able to create a sharp edge, but the point of my knives turned flat (like screw drivers) instead of pointy. This is not very good because I have trouble cutting many objects without the point.

So how can I get my point back? thanks

Use a coarse stone (gray) on the 40 setting.
Instead of pushing down to sharpen (where you cant see the edge), flip the blade upside down and flush the edge to your stone a little ways before the tip. Slowly pull up keeping the edge flush as the curve goes to the tip. Repeat on other side and then repeat with white stones. Dont pull the edge off the stones until you come to the very end of the tip.

It sounds like your pulling up to high when sharpening the tip, causing the edge to start to grind off the tips, making them flat.

Hope this helps.

You're rounding the tip, by letting the tip slide off the stone at the end. When sharpening, stop when the tip is in the middle of the flat, and don't let the tip slide off (along the flat) if you use the corners.

To re-establish the tip, you need to grind a new one from the spine (top) of the knife. If it's as bad as you describe... you'll probably need a coarser stone than the Sharpmaker. You just lay the spine on a stone, (the knife is perpendicular to the stone) raise it up a bit, and grind until you have a new tip established. You can try it on a Sharpmaker stone (the coarser one) to see if it will work fast enough. (It will do it, just takes more time).
