i love SOG.
i have some folding knife of SOG,such as:

X42 autoclip and mini----tanto,BG42 HRC 62 and 60,USA
vision 3----arc-lock, ats34 and vg10,seki japan
tomcat 3.0---vg10, seki japan
fatcat----vg10,seki japan
vulcan and mini -----vg10,seki japan
stingray 2.0---sr-03, san mai ,seki japan
bluto---vg10,seki japan
penludum---vg10,seki japan
tiedent---tf-9,LE........?
twitch XL---twi-201,tanto.......?

now,my problem as below:

1, what steel the tf-9 and twi-201 is ? and what is the country of origin of them?
2, l want to buy some bowie fixed blade, but i can't find the S1 or S2 that made in SEKI JAPAN, so i am worry about "made in taiwan", such as S1T/S2B/SB1T/S10P. in performance side , I need to worry about this?

thanks

I would suggest checking out the SOG website - sogknives.com . We have all the blade steel and country of origin information on the site for each product.

As for performance of fixed blades, we are using AUS8 Japanese steel sourced from Japan but it is just ground and finished in Taiwan. I do not think you will have any problems with the fixed blades that you had mentioned above.

Given that Chris@SOG is the SOG representative on the forum, I'd say his word is as good as any "published by SOG" information. Just my thoughts!

Country of Origin "Assembled in the USA"? Does that mean they are made in Taiwan? Or China? Or where?

Country of Origin really isn't answered on some SOG knives. But on others it clearly says China, Japan, or Taiwan.

I'm pretty sure that the parts are made in Taiwan, and the steel shipped from Japan and then shipped in large quantities to the States. I've owned quite a lot of knives, I have a Seki made Seal Pup and I had the Seki made Seal 2000-knife. Awesome blades, but my Taiwanese made Seal Pup Elites(have two of them) are just as good qualitywise. I'm a huge fan of Seki made SOG knives, but for the most part, you can't really ding the quality of the Taiwan-made products(qualitycontrol), but that's just my opinion.

oh,i see, just believe SOG,every thing will be OK.

i will have the S1T and S2B, or S37 series, and join into the tactical knives field. ;)

The only real complaint I have heard is on the Pentagon as to the flat grind going to hollow grind, the tip becoming less pointed. However it seems sharper. Basically a change in style and that is often personal. I have mixed feelings.

I prefer the new webbing sheath over the old kydex.
