I am considering one of the above as EDC in the 3-4" range. I would want s/t in neighborhood of 5/32 thickness w/ strong tip as I s/t baton and or drill w/ my knives in this size range (I saw the thread of the one koyote batoninng a cross section of bone w not edge damage...impressive!). Please give me your feedback/experience especially those who have one of the above models. Also interested in steel type regarding edgeholding and toughness. Fire away and thanks in advance!

Based purely on blade for batoning..... I'd take a great basin bushcrafter over the stead (the GBB is a bit more blade oriented, the stead is generally a bit shorter and has a handle designed to stay usable with frozen wet hands on a ranch in january- but the blade is a bit short for batoning)

rpn has posted a bit on his new GBB :D

With a SERE LBK you'll be running 3/16 in the tang with a full distal taper and full convex grind. should do the job well.

The 57 is- according to a couple people- the best all around cuttin knife, and I'd have no issues batoning normal firewood kindling splits. BUt I definitely tend to think of it more as an EDC than a dedicated bush bumming or woods walking knife.
