Picked up this Buck 112 from Ebay. It has the dark green or black (handles don't match up in color real well) on the Blade it says BUCK 112 and then followed by an inverted T?. Can anyone tell me the production year and what steel is on this model? Is the handle color common? Also is $39. to much for this knife? I am just getting into Buck knifes.

I plan on sending it for some filework later this week.

Well, inverted T is 2004; the price sounds excellent to me; the scales are somewhat unusual but not terribly so (as is the Nickel Silver bolsters). IIRC, Blade should be 420HC if not marked otherwise.

I don't like filework - who are you planning on sending it to (and why)??? IMHO, that decreases its value...

I have a 110 that matches your 112. I posted on here and was told that about 700 were made in that color combination. Mine was made in 2001.

I am sending the knife to Eric Hampton in Carlton , GA. I have seen his filework on on other 112's and I got this knife for that purpose.

Do you really think I should keep this one the way it is? The filework is $100. is that average price for such work?

Thaks John. So does this mean there are only 700 of the 112's or the total number of 112's and 110's combined in that color scheme?

I was told that there were two batches of 350 of the 110`s made. One batch in 2001 and one in 2004. Maybe your 112 was the same way?

$39 isn't a bad price for a 112 at all. Even though it's the lesser brother to the 110, the 112 is much less commonly sold in stores so you don't find the sub-$30 deals that you do with the 110. I think the 112 isn't usually any less than $35 online, so an extra $4 for a unique variation of it sounds like a bargain for a collector.

Have you grabbed your $23 110 from walmart yet? Limited time deal.

Carl, Academy has the 110's now for $18.63....

What is the Academy website address?

I went to Academy.com and they had them for $27.54. Is this the same place you mentioned

BUCK FOLDING HUNTER LOCK BLADE KNIFE BLADE KNIFE

Their website may not be on target with ad flyers in the newspaper. Unfortunately, dont see any sale items.

Academy's website doesn't have much to do with their stores. The knife section on the website only has about 6 knives, while the store must have 100+.

There is a search function on that site and I punched in Buck 112 and that is the price that came up.

It doesn't matter. The price of shipping will make the knife more anyway.

According to the Academy Sports website they do not sell merchandise online anyway...I sure wish there was one near me in Florida...:(

Okay I thought Academy was an online store. I never heard of them until now. Where I live there are no Academys so I will have to settle for Wal-Mart.
