I have a Shirogorov Hati with a CF side. I have been in the habit of puting a small drop of loctite 243 (blue, medium, removeable) on the main pin screw and any body screws of all of my knives after I reassemble them. Works fine. There is a trick on the Shiros where the pin assembly is free to rotate. So, With blade open you put a little side force on it. That binds the shaft and you can then unscrew the pin.
Here is my problem. The screw that holds the back sides and spacer is also free spining (no stop). One side has the flat head type slot and the other is smooth and flush with the titanium bolster. It just rotates when I turn the screw. I am not sure how to hold something like that from moving that is flush.
I put a heat gun to both sides of the screw but do not want it to get too hot because of the one side being CF. I was able to get the blade out thinking I could spread the Ti and CF sides a bit to get a bind on that pin. Did not work and again I have to be careful of the CF.
I am not sure what to do next? Other ideas were to soak the knife in hot water for a long time? Glue the flush end to something with a glue that is removeable? Clamp the knife down with a piece of rubber against the flush screw?
Anybody have any proven techniques?
