I havent seen everything HI has made...Im looking for a kuk that I can use as belt carry small fixed blade (between 12 and 14 in total) that slices as well as lite chopin'.

 I know about 12 in ak's--got an 18 in. :D

Anybody know what to do about horn handle cracks--other than send my knife bak??--If I did that Id be forced to "rely" on my CS ghurkha kukree....hee hee....

12" AK's and Pen knives have been floating around the Deal of the Day lately.

Pardon my abruptness, but I'm going thru withdrawal from spending my discretionary monies for the month of April on March 31st for a used 308 Savage. It isn't pretty around here with 23 more days to go.

BTW- Welcome anyway, and someone else will come along and treat you well. Time for my medication - past time. ;) ;)

And the part about feeling stupid is normal here, cause everyone you run into seems like they're smarter. They either just don't post when they've got a case of the stupids or they just don't care if they make a jackass out of themselves. If you haven't figured it out, I'm in the second category. Why even try to hide it?

Pen knife...and remember, in the land of the stoopid, the stoopid man is still stoopid. :-/

Horn handle cracks are easily fixed with super glue. Get the runny, watery kind. I was suprised at how easy it was, and how it blended.

Welcome to the Cantina:)
I have a 12" siru, a 12" AK, and a 12" Pen. The siru feels a lot like a "knife" to me, but with enough curve to snap cut stuff you wouldn't think it could (see Munk's thread about his 12" siru). The AK feels like a slightly more blade heavy knife. It'll out chop the 12" siru, but its a whole different animal from its 15" big brother. I just received my Pen Knife in the mail a couple days ago. To me it feels a lot more solid. this might have to do with the fact that Bura made it. I think it'll make the best all around light camping knife for me. It'll out chop my other two, slice up the food easily, and has a lot less "fearsome" profile than a regular khuk. its not as pointy as the other ones. I think most sheeple see pointy and think "weapon". Anyway, I'm sure there are other forumites out there that have a much better understanding of these blades than I do. YMMV. good luck finding what you want:)

p.s. as far as horn handles go, the ol' super glue/epoxy mixed with charcoal trick has always helped me with cracked handles, or gobs of JB weld and electrical tape:)

A Bura-made Pen Knife is hard to beat. Heckuva camp knife, easily sharpened. Tough chopper.

If that's too small, try a balance model or get one of the BDCs (new models, 10" and 14" long) that are due to show up here anyday now. Great for belt carry, etc.

The BDC's have not yet arrived....who knows how many we'll get, but only those who have prepaid get first dibs. The rest of us will have to squalor, cuss and spit to get what we want...:D
