Stamp is as follows:

Buck
-110-
U.S.A.

I collect 110s and other knives, I got this one recently and it's in beautiful condition and based on the shape and the old style sheath (which is almost mint as well) I'm guessing it was made around the ..110.. Stamp time period... Although I could be completely wrong and it could be a 92 stamp that got messed up by a new employee or something (I think 92 is the single -)

Or maybe its a fake... A REALLY good fake. I hope it's not.

Please help me out. Any info at all helps, I'm new on the site. I can post pictures of the knife as well as answer any questions you may have about it.

Help!

10arowe, Welcome. You have a double minus stamped 1992 Buck 110. The double minus was added early on in that year for a mfg. change, like Feb. so most 1992 models are found with the double. The single minus stamp is harder to find. DM

110 Folding hunter 1992 double dash
In 1992 the date code on our blade stamps was a dash, just after the model number. BUCK, 110-, U.S.A.
As many of our loyal forum members know, later in 1992 a second dash was added to the 110. BUCK, -110-, U.S.A.
Our engineering group gave me the explanation as to why the second dash was added. Apparantly, there was a design change in the blade radius area that warranted the stamp code change.
The goal of this design change was two fold. Make the action smoother, and eliminate an opertation in the shop. It was not a very noticeable change to the naked eye. I compared a 1994 110 blade to a 4 dot i just happened to have on my desk and any diferences were hard to see but they are there.
So there you have it, mystery solved!

Thank you guys so much... I had searched forever trying to figure out what this was... And this is the best answer I could hope for! Best part is I was born in 92 so this is the perfect 110 for me!

This just keeps coming up so, I looked it up again. The answer can be found in the June 2006 collectors newsletter under 'Tidbits'... Herein, Bill Keys Buck's Senior Manufacturing Engineer addresses this in a Dec. 5, 1991 memo. " The ERC (engineering change request) for the 110 blade and rocker redesign has been approved. To assist Consumer Relations in differentiation between new and old design knives produced in 1992 a change in the stamp will be made..." Thus, a second dash was added to the blade stamp and with this memo occurring very late in 91 it is sound to reason the stamp was added early in 92. This is supported by collectors not finding many Single dash stamped 110's. DM

That's good information David. You made me go look thru my database. I've got a single dash somewhere. I always thought it was the double dashes that were special, not the other way around.
