Help! I have become the Latest victim of Cowabanga

I'm not sure, but CoolWeb Shredder might work:

It's a free, 520k download.

Once you manage to get rid of Cowabanga, download Spyware Blaster:

"SpywareBlaster doesn't scan for and clean spyware--it prevents it from being installed in the first place. SpywareBlaster prevents the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, dialers, browser hijackers, and other potentially unwanted programs. It can also block spyware/tracking cookies in IE and Mozilla/Firefox, and restrict the actions of spyware/ad/tracking sites."

I have had good luck with eTrust Internet Security Suite. Used it for years now, and it comes with a good anti pest program.

I also use AdAware SE from lavasoft, and it works well.

Had Norton in the past, and it sucked big time. I have the Corporate Symantec product at work, though- and it is just fine.

Thanks, That looks like it did it.

No problem , glad to help a fellow BF'er :D
I have used several versions of Symantec (Norton) including the vaunted Corporate and I agree, disappointment.
There are dozens of anti-virus programs and many of them are good , some less than good and some are poop. :D

You might want to run that Ewido online scanner one more time to make sure your cow is gone , also bookmark it and run it once weekly , it will keep you nice and clean.
Beware of many of the "free" tools available , some of them with thier very own spyware built right in , there is hardly anything free on the net anymore... Ewido is one of exceptions , as is Spybot (Search and Destroy) which is another free and excellent tool one should use.
