Help, I lost my knife...well almost

Funny story that may actually help someone...

I like to carry a clip knife with jeans. Living in the Pacific North West we get a lot of rain and a few moderately cold months during the year. Recently I was carrying a Kershaw clipped into my pocket. I was wearing a jacket while out and when I got home I hung up my jacket. Later that day I realized my knife was not in my pocket. I wondered for a bit and thought about all the places I'd been that day and could not find the knife. My entire family helped me look for about an hour and we all came up empty handed. Then about two weeks later I put the same jacket on and hanging from the hem drawcord wsa my knife(the elastic cord is a small elastic cord used to cinch up the bottom of the jacket to keep warmth in and wind/cold out). Sooooo if you wear a jacket with a hem drawcord and like to carry a clip knife be careful.

knives fall out of my pockets like its my job or something. I've lost many of them over the years in the same manner as you describe. To date I have only found one of them (and then promptly lost it again). The story was that I used to carry a plain edge Spyderco SS Rescue (although I think it had another name than rescue..) and one day it was gone. I think it was a combination of a loose clip coupled with the smooth SS scales that made it fall out of my pocket, whatever it was, one day I woke up and it was gone (Booze was involved.) Anyway, later that year my friends were throwing out their couch and as we were moving it around, a lot of change was falling out of it so we decided to cut the bottom open to see what else was in there. It was like hitting the jackpot in a Vegas slot machine. I tell you there must have been $20 dollars in change in there, plus someone's sunglasses, a Zippo, and ... my rescue. I put it back in my pocket and I think I must have lost it again within 3 days.

Now here's the pathetic part... I have had dreams where I find it again in some chair or somewhere, but when I wake up and check that chair that I saw in my "vision" it is never there. I guess I'll never see it again. Sob:(

It's happened to me too, but only when I wear a certain jacket. Unfortunately as I wear that jacket alot this time of year itwas either change the place I carried the knife or change the knife. NEW KNIFE!
 
I had something similar happen. The avalanche clip wore a hole in my jacket and one day when taking my jacket off the clip caught on the hole and pulled the knife out of my pocket as I pulled the jacket off. It happened in the store and I looked down thinking "wheres my knife"? dumbfounded I looked around and glanced at my jacket and there was my knife hanging off the side, clip poked through the lining!!!:eek:
