SORRY KIT :o :(
I know this is off topic but I need help here
and I know some of you guys are computer savy, I'm not.

I have these sets of numbers X 65 more sets of them and
not in the same order.
I need to put them into a spread sheet, each number in it's own cell
without the white space in the right colm's..as show below..
it will take me forever to type them in and the way I type,
only the lord would know the misstakes I would make..

does anyone know how I can do this without it taking me 4 weeks to do it?

there must be a program to do this?
Thanks bunch ...

edited to add this page takes the white spaces out when posted so there is about 5 cells of white spaces between the numbers you can't see here.

0 5 1 0 0 4.3 0
0 5 1 0 0 3.8 0
0 5 1 0 0 3 0
0 5 1 0 0 2.9 0
3 95 14 2 0 28 0.8
5 100 13 2 0 28 1.2
2 65 10 1 1 20 0.6
1 25 4 2 0 131 0.1
1 105 27 1 0 114 0.2
1 140 35 2 0 150 0.3
0 10 2 0 0 16 0
2 700 158 16 0 200 0.3
0 25 5 3 0 124 0

If you have access to a scanner with decent OCR (Optical Character Recognition), it should be able to do it for you.

Kinkos is a rip, but they usually have the right equipment.

Dan, are the sets of numbers emailable? If yes, shoot me a set and I will see what I can do. First thing of the top of my head is trying to import them into Excel as a comma, space, or tab delimited data.

Let me know.

Dan,
Computer problems aren't OT :) Where would be be without them.

Betty is a master in Excel and data bases. I'll get her to look at it. Can you email it?

I can think of a fairly easy way to do this, if the sets of numbers are in an electronic format (e.g., one or more Word documents). Drop me an email if you still need the help.

Email me if you're still having trouble with it Dan.
I took my MOUS certs, but the question is, can I remember how?! lol
If I can't remember, then I have a couple family members that should be able to.

nope no scanner

thanks guys
Kit, Sean, dsvirsky,Steve,
I'll e-mail what I have and what I'm looking for..
you'll see I need to place 7000 values plus the source in their proper place.

if I could some how place a comma after the values I think they'd go but the white spaces (originally may have been cells) are a problem
and still typing them would take me forever..

steve your e-mail addy is not listed? Thanks

Thanks Guys
looks like the problem now is I don't have excel to use the XLS file.
I'm using M/S works spead sheats
is that a problem?? :(

Dan, I just emailed you back another file. I saved the excel file as a tab delimited text file that you should be able to import into Works. Let us know how it goes.

thanks buddies... :)

PS Sean I just got
your e-mail I think that will work the same, thanks

I will tell you all if need be for more than knives this is the place of diversity for sure. if I had a hang nail I know I could get help with it here. :)

It is trivial - just replace blanks (spaces) with a separator your spreadsheet program is able to interpret as such (for Excel that would usually be semi-colon, ";"). This cane be accomplished using any text editor (such as Notepad by using its Replace function, Edit | Replace in Notepad). Then rename the file (change suffix to .csv so that your spreadsheet applicationuses comma-separated value import filter automatically) and open it and then save as whatever native format of your spreadsheet application is. Voila, it's converted from plan-text into spreadsheet format.

I understand that your problem has been dealt with already so perhaps this might come in handy for you at some point in the future.

Everyone jumped in and had the same idea so I let it alone too...

As far as "Gee Dan"......I was just wondering if you needed a kick in the hiney to boot your computer too... :D :D :D :D :D
