I had an EDC which I had previously scuffed up & when I sent it to Bodycote to have the Diamond DLC coating on it was told the scuffs would show thru the finish. So I had them blast the blade to a nice matt finish before the diamond DLC coating was applied.
I then sent it out to have the thumb stud replaced with a Spyderco-style thumb hole. Even better.
After lots of happy use, the matt finish started to get grungy.
I found that the polished or satin finished Diamond DLC coated knives to be indestructible but not the matt finished ones.
I just hate grungy looking pocket knife, so I am paying to have the blade replaced. This is no ones fault but my own. It was still funtional, just ugly.
By the way, the handle & clip were also Diamond DLC coated & the look great still, so a new blade will be just what I need.
