Help! I think I bought a fake!!!!!!!

I need y'alls help. I recently purchased a Paramilitary 2 from the biggest online retailer in the world and I think I got a fake (or possibly a well used knife passed off as new).

The first thing I noticed is that the knife came out of the box with the clip oriented for tip up carry, whereas every other new P2 I have seen came with the clip mounted for tip down carry.

The second thing I noticed is that my blade does not seem to have near as much "belly" as other P2s I have seen. Examining the edge closer, it looks like a the blade has been ground a lot or sharpened a lot over time. The lack of belly made me think it may be fake and the edge made me think it might be fake or used. It is also not near as sharp as other Spydercos I have purchased.

Now I started looking closer at the knife and I noticed the words and symbols on the blade seem "off" from my Para 3 and overall the knife seems "rougher" in finish. Finally I noticed that the grey strip between the black and red on my box is much darker than other boxes I have and the box does not have the normal Spyderco barcode sticker.

I am hoping some of y'all that know the Paramilitary 2 better than I do can look at the pictures I have included (sorry they aren't the best quality, took them with my iphone at work) and help me determine if I got a fake or not. Luckily, if it is fake then I can return it easily based on where i bought it.

I really appreciate any help that is given.

Your pictures aren't showing up (for me, at least), but based on what you've said about it looking used, and given the excellent return policy where you bought it, I'd probably return it for the obvious use -- never mind whether or not it's a fake.

Welcome adamryan . There is a problem with your photos . Buying a Spyderco knife from anywhere other than a reputable authorized dealer is risky. Often times that river site gets returns that are fakes or maybe even one that been switched with a used one and it gets resold. If you feel something is wrong, it probably is. I would return it immediately for a refund , then purchase the knife from one of the many BF dealers here.
Good luck .

Shoot....The pictures did not post. Trying again below:

Hope this works as I would really like you guys to see this.

Thanks

Wow! Sorry I posted such HUGE photos. Been on here a loooong time but haven't posted much and this is my first time posting pictures.

The fonts look off to me. As does Sal's mark. I could be wrong, though. I just checked it against my blurple PM2.

Based on the lettering alone, particularly "U.S.A.Earth" as opposed to "U.S.A. Earth" on a real one, I would say that this is a fake.

You might also peek at the liners: If they don't have a little W-shaped "chip" removed from them, that's a dead giveaway. (Although the presence of that chip -- a byproduct of the manufacturing process -- doesn't prohibit a PM2 from being a fake, its absence always means that it's a fake.)

That is a used fake you just bought yourself. Stick with reputable authorized dealers and you'll be golden! See what I did there?

Sadly ... agreed it definately does not look right ... I know it gets said alot but ... saving a few dollars isn't really worth the risk to me ... buy from reputable dealers ... you can find many in the list that support the forums here ... you can rest easy with them and many will go above and beyond to help you anyway they can.

yep. always buy from the great dealers here. they are almost always cheaper or the same price as anywhere else.

That's a fake for sure! The font is terrible! Try a reputable dealer next time and steer clear of those big stores.

Return it while you still can. Stick to reputable dealers.

Those are not even detailed pics and it is still obvious that is a fake.

Hopefully Spyderco sees this and hopefully the seller can sort it out with whoever returned that POS. The buy a real one and return a fake one scam needs to be sorted out at some point. :(

That's the problem with Amazon and other retailers. Scammers will buy a ton of knives then return fakes in there place. They then sell the real deal and profit. It's horrible. Amazon has to take them back and they don't inspect them.
