Hey guys I just came across a knife for sale and need some help deciding whether or not it is worth buying. It looks exactly like the Timberline Aviator(smaller emerson nealy specwar) just sterile with no markings. It also has a sheath that looks similar to the [crappy] ones they put the large nealy emerson, the knife itself looks pretty solid. Does anyone know if they made sterile ones or fake ones and if you think it maybe a real aviator? Or could it be someone bought a blank one on ebay and put a handle on it? Should I get it(it is cheap)? Thanks all

sterile, huh?
sounds like something a stealth pilot could use!
if there's one thing i've learnt about unmarked knives is that unless you have a known personal history about it's past ownership and more importantly it's make; chances are it's going to be pretty hard to place any substantial value on it...
so if you like taking chances, consider this one to be purely for the hell of it.
btw, the Timberline Aviator came with kydex sheath.

@ girlymann: lol yeah pretty much a shot in the dark, I will probaly buy it anyway. But I was hoping someone might know if there were ever any counterfeit knives made to look like the aviator. I have seen a few blanks on ebay any thought maybe somone got one and put it together somehow. I also know the aviator came with a kydex sheath but so did the nealy specwar until they found a bunch of the knives at the factory and put them with a crappy aftermarket sheath and sold em.

Any knife and all knife models that are desirable have been knocked off, counterfeited and sold in hopes that it would be wanted and purchased. We all hope somehow we can acquire that knife we want at a fraction of the cost. That is the hook that blinds us to justify our want to purchase. Go ahead and buy it, it will probably cut stuff.

Cheapie sold a few years ago by Sportsmans Guide. More of a knife-shaped object than a knife. Good for a beater.
