Hello,

I was hoping for help ID'ing a knife.

CR fixed blade with round black handle and satin 7" blade. One side stamped with CR logo and other side stamped D.M. Has serrated spine and comes with black leather sheath with brass snap buttons.. Looks like early 80's era. Silver guard...Will try to post pics soon.

Looking for model name and curious what DM stands for.

Thanks for your help.

Find a picture hosting site such as phototbucket and upload the pic there...then select the link to the pic with the

Send that pic to crkinfo@chrisreeve.com
Anne may be able to identify it..But to me it looks like the CR logo isn't right and doesn't necessarily look like any of the designs I have seen in the past. You can take this with a grain of salt though.

Thanks bhyde...

The logo on blade looks like a CR logo, but on sheath you can see the R looks different. I will email Anne and keep you posted. If anyone else recognizes the logo I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Please do keep us updated..Certainly a cool piece,..especially if it's an early Reeve piece!

Interesting knife, but I'm fairly sure that it isn't a Chris Reeve piece. It doesn't bear a resemblance to other early Reeve knives, and his more recent One Piece Range and tactical knives are well documented. To be sure though, you should send these pics to their Boise shop for an opinion. Once in a while an older piece shows up that no one here has seen before.

As said above, please let us know what crk says! I have never seen that one before, but I know some crk knives exist that I have not seen before:)

I don't think this one made by CRK, I think it is a counterfeit stamped the logo like CRK. The logo is not CRK logo, just looks like CRK's . There is no CRK pattern or style on it. It's vintage fighting knives pattern and style, like Gil Hibben's or Jimmy Lile's pattern. I know many low knife factories like make this style and pattern knives and stamp other famous factories' or makers' logo.

I don't think it's a counterfeit, since it isn't trying to look like any of his models. If they wanted to make a counterfeit then it would most likely resemble one of his well known models.

With that said, I did receive confirmation from Heather at CR knives and was informed that it was not one of his.

Thanks for all the help. Now, to find out who the maker was.

Sorry, my English not very good, maybe the word "counterfeit" not very appropriate. I just thought this is not a CRK and maybe some one made this one stamped the logo similar with CRK's, this is a common trick in many place, their logo/stamp looks like the well-known manufacturers, just very small difference. I own CRK from 1985 to now, I know the knife style and pattern of CRK, his knives are very recognizable, and the logo is the character 'C' around the 'R', not a full circle around 'R', so it's easy to see that's definitely not made by CRK.

Hope you will find the answer. :)

This knife was made by Robert Rippy, who is now no longer alive. He made some good fighting knives back in the 90s..

QR does not = CRK ... Different maker, more like a Randall #14 Not a counterfit,

Like I said above, it was made by Bob Rippy. He called it the DEA Pilot's knife...
