I found this axe at a local flea market of sorts called the City-Wide Garage Sale. It (the axe) is absolutely beautiful. The tag says "WWI axe". The seller had no info or any idea other than he was sure it was old. Another guy there spotted me carrying it around the marketplace and asked to see it; He confirms that is at least 50 to 60 years old and could very well be from WWI (if not older, in his opinion).
The sheath is made of leather with brass rivets that look to be put together by hand. The leather is obviously very old and hard/dry, but not crumbling. The blade is painted a drab brown/orange hue, but I don't know if it is original or added later. The blade stamps are worn and I can't make them out, but hopefully someone here recognizes the shape of stamp and maybe the name itself. It also looks like the stamps appear on both sides of the leather sheath, though they are worn almost completely smooth so there is no discernible detail there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
