Thanks for all the info. Now I'm just looking for the story on the scale

I'm new to Hinderer knives and I picked up these today from an estate. Seller said they were XM-24s but I think they're XM-18s as the blades are 3.5 inches. Scales, hardware, clips, and emblems look aftermarket but I don't know nearly enough to tell what or where. Other than what's visible, the skinner/drop point show scale has SEP 14 engraved on the inside near the tip. Any info y'all have would be helpful.

Bottom looks like bronze hardware except the skull, probably Hinderer OEM. Top is a skinner blade and the hardware is just some Steel Flame aftermarket stuff (same with the skull on the bottom knife), but Steel Flame works closely with RHK and Emerson. So, it’s aftermarket but also OEM, because the hardware is probably still Hinderer machined at least a little. The same goes for the clips and the filler tabs. As for the titanium pattern on the top, not sure that’s stock.

They look like Gen 4s, which are pretty sought after. They predate the tri way pivot and the lock bar insert. Gen 3s had the closed position stop pin in the middle of the frame right behind the lock bar. They also didn’t have the same branding on the blade.

Probably gen 4 on the bottom. Could be gen 3 on the skinner. Extra pin is gen 2 and gen 1 which these don’t have. All the steel flame accessories quadruple the price on these easily

No sir, gen 3 XMs have the extra stop pin and the blades don’t feature the same branding. In fact, the removal of the extra pin predated the additional branding. So, both of these models are absolutely generation 4 models.

Cool cool cool so the nice people at Hinderer are liars when I talked to them about my old xm24.
👍🏼

Absolutely Gen4 with Steel Flame clips, tabs and nuts. I’m not sure the top scale is from Hinderer.

Could be newer employees. Or, alternatively, the generations on the XM-24 may not fall in line with the XM-18. The 24 was not produced as frequently, so it’s entirely possible that the generation 3 XM-24 coincided with the generation 4 XM-18. They may not have made a batch of 24s when the generation 3 XM-18 was in production. Their schedules were tight and I don’t actually recall seeing many 24s in the wild around that time.

This thread actually seems to support exactly what was stated in my previous post. The OP lists four generations of XM-18 and only two generations of 24. So, the third generation 24 came after the fourth 18, thus these could be gen 3 XM-24s, if they were 24s.

Well we have the knives down, as well as the hardware. I've added a picture of the more ornate scale to the album. It reads CZAR SEP 14 and has a lion's head engraving. Anyone know what it is? The plain ti scale has no engraving and is flat.on both sides

I'm leaving the original thread here but looking for info on the scale of the top knife. It was made by CZAR Precision (aka Kasfly), a CNC machinist out of China who makes knife sharpeners. Scale is titanium and slightly thicker than a standard Ti XM-18 scale. Anybody know how many were made, how much they were, if it's a one off, anything?
