hello there,

New here, and have a quick ID question. I’ve been browsing photos for hours and can’t figure this out. So does anyone here recognize this one?
I ran into it at an antique store, there are no markings on it etc. leads me to believe it’s a small batch, one off maybe? Sorry about the crappy photo.
Any help would be appreciated. And no I didn’t pick it up...

Did you handle it? Any marks on it?

It resembles some of the kit folders that have been on the market for the past ten years or so, at least to me.

Hi Jim,

I only had a minute to glance at it, there were no marks, it felt nice and solid, opened smooth etc, but then I had to run and couldn’t ask any questions. Managed to snap a quick photo and that was it.
I have looked at pages of google images and Pinterest but can’t find it. After your suggestion that it might be a kit, I went back and looked at pages of kit knives but still no luck. I’ll try to make it back there sometime next week hopefully, maybe I’ll be amble to get some more info then.

I don’t know anything about knives to tell the difference between different quality blades etc , but if I do go back and it’s still there, anything in particular to check, look at, or test to see if it’s good quality or just junk?

Looks to be good quality. Buy it if it's decent price and good centering and lockup. Check with a magnet to see if it's Ti slabs.

Dave Cole? Maybe not?
I looked up his website, and don’t see many folders on there, his logo is different too, maybe one of his older ones? Hmmm...

It does feel and look like good quality, but just not sure. The asking price is 95$. I’m not a knife guy, so don’t plan on buying several knives. I’d like to just buy one and be done. But after browsing this forum, it appears that it might be impossible to just have one lol.
While flipping through hundreds of images trying to ID this knife I think I’m starting to like the mini crooked river from Benchmade as well.

If it's a custom maker then 95 is cheap. Look between the slabs with blade open, several makers mark in inconspicuous places you will be surprised where markings will be hiding. Look at the bushings, higher end have bronze or bearings. Look close at the screws, high end knives have quality made screws with torx or allen heads, some still use phillips but even those are of obvious quality.
The blade shape is nice and the grind looks well done. A high end knife will look and feel like a nice piece of jewelry.
