Hey, this is my first post. I acquired a Buck Knive, I searched all over google for what it could be. I came up empty handed. This particular model is a Buck 184>. Yes, I typed that correctly.what exactly is this? If anyone can give me some background and history on this piece that would be greatly appreciated!

What you have is a Buck 184 also known as a Buckmaster. You can do a search using the words "Buck 184" on this forum or on the web or on the large auction site and find all kind of information.

There is also a book by Rich Neyman called "Buckmaster Knives" which is a fantastic resource. The > after the 184 is the year mark for what year your knife was made in which was 1987. Do a web search for "Buck date codes" for more info.

There are many variations with each having minor differences. Some are quite valuable and rare while others are much more common. The 184's are becoming quite a collectable.

Nice knife and welcome to the forum.
