Help ID this Damascus Fighter

Helping a friend ID this knife but I haven't been successful. Had high hopes it was by Mike Tambloi - but he has kindly responded that it's not by him. Signed with Japanese characters
but being Damascus probably not by a Japanese smith.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
