I took this as a trade at a gun show.
I believe it's a Busse Badger with straight handle.
Would someone please help me identify this knife, when were they made, and market value?
If I resell it I want to list it under the correct model name.

I think it's a fake, sorry brother--

Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly.

:D

JK--Cobalt nailed it; it's a beauty!

Very nice. You will need a membership however to ask value. Learned that the hard way. Lol.

Yeah man. Only us cool kids who pay our dues can talk about value. Have to join the club and learn the secret handshake.

Btw as this is your first post welcome and very cool knife. Stick around it's a good group.

What time frame were these made? Does it have collector value beyond a what a newer Busse (replacement) with similar build specs

The knife appears to have had little use. Were these sold direct or in retail stores?
This came in a black scout sheath marked Shrap(?) that looks like it has been worn. Was this an aftermarket sheath or were they sold with knife by Busse?
The finish on the blade doesn't show any amateur sharpening marks and only the sharp edge remains unfinished.
The point of the blade is missing a bit of finish as if it had been dropped.
The missing finish is very small, maybe like a #12 bird shot. Can or should this be repaired?
I see no need for repair as a user and it wouldn't be right to alter a collectible.
The finish on the blade looks like new. It shows no scratches or scuff marks,
I trust that it's a real Busse, with a good edge and handle, but do people refinish the blades? The finish is too nice for a knife that was used much.
I want to list all possibilities to a potential buyer if I sell it at a gun show. I usually have a few knife tables with production knives (mostly North American or European) and some Iowa made custom knives. I frequently get trade offers and only buy what I can resell. I took this on trade for a new Benchmade.
I placed it on the top of my display at the last gun show to see if anyone would inquire.
Only one guy acknowledged it as a old Busse and he just wanted to hold and look at it.
What is a reasonable "Buy it Now" on Ebay (also the price I would use at a gun show) or the classifieds on this site? To resell, it makes sense to look here first for a buyer, then maybe Ebay. I won't take it to gun shows unless I can't find a buyer local or online. If I take it to a gun show I'm likely to swap it for something I don't really need...

Thanks for your help
Dana

AS others have told you, you need a gold membership to get valuation. I gave you the information you wanted. you are welcome.

I paid the membership as soon I saw the notification. I'll repost my questions again later if needed.

excellent. The knife was likely made in the 1996-7 time frame. It is A2 steel and that is obvious from many clues on the blade. Worth varies with time. 6 years ago that knife was worth more than it is today with all the INFI releases. However, to a collector it may be worth it. Value wise, I would say that if it was mine, I would not sell it for less than $400 and would likely ask around $500 for it. You could go as high as $650 for it. It looks mint so that is a great selling point. To me as a buyer it is not worth more than about $450, But I am not the biggest badger attack fan. I like them but not as much as others. Hope that helps.

I recall someone recently talking about what he collects and he mentioned the older BUsse with the name on the spine like that. So collector value, probably up there for the right situation. It is i realy nice condition and looks pretty amazing, been well taken care of.

Cobalt nailed it. I'd think $450 is your bottom. Sky's the limit but I'd be surprised to see it go for >$700.

Have to disagree LOL about "been well taken care of", that knife has received no loving it hasn't been beaten in 20 years LOL
I believe the person you are referring to who collects spine stamped old school Busse is Gravelface.
LOL! ... Yes, I bow to thee, you are correct my sir! ... Maybe it shall soon find the sweet taste of bacon, fat and fur as it was born to do :D

I don't know about market value because I've never seen one for sale, so I'm going to guess they're fairly rare, and the price depends on finding the right buyer. If it were mine and I was thinking about selling it, I'd go with the high range of Cobalt's estimate. You can always go down if it doesn't sell, but you can't go up.

Old Post John. Just in shock no one called me when this one popped up!
Ha!!! Some sneaky hog treachery, make no mistake!!!!

Looks like Nitaino nabbed it back then.

I do have to say, I've used and tested one of these in A2, and loved it.
