Hello, fellow forumites. I'd like you to help me confirm if this is an original Leatherman Super Tool, since I've been offered it and I find it quite a deal if it is so.

Could you tell me if it's worth adding to my collection (ST 300, Wave, Squirt PS4, Micra) or it has nothing on the Wave, weighing just 0.5 oz. more? I was planning on having it as a backup to my wave, since the ST300 is way too big to me. How is it strength-wise compared to the Wave, or the ST300? And comfortable to carry and use?
Anyone EDCed this old one for a while, or has anything relevant to tell me about it?

Thank you all for your answers and sharing your experiences with your original Super Tools!

It's the original Super Tool. Personally I think it was the best large LM. I carried one for a couple years in the late 90s or early 2000s.

I like it better than the later STs because the lock was simple and didn't protrude from the body.

It seems that the vendor also has a Mini Tool to offer. Any thoughts on it? Should I get both?
Whoa this is getting difficult decision to make!

For quite a few years, an original Super Tool was my EDC multitool, along with a Micra for the scissors and other supplementary stuff. Although I bonded with it, and agree with Frank on the locking system for blades and implements, there was a drawback; it was time consuming to close it up and potentially hazardous, especially if up on a ladder or holding on to something I couldn't let go. It took careful attention to avoid injury and I never got cut, but still required more concentration than I liked. In spite of the ST's good qualities, eventually I transitioned to a Super Tool 300. It was bigger, heavier and didn't have the same level of finish, but I appreciate some of its refinements find it easier and safer to use. I still have the original, use it once in a while, but keep it more out of nostalgia than any practical reason. We went through a lot together. :sentimental:

Yup. Great quality multitool. I now prefer the wave because I found the Supertool uncomfortable to hold.

Yes, It's a collectors item so if you don't like it you'll be able to sell it.

I have the mini tool and it's one of my favorites. Wouldn't sell it for anything!...maybe.
