I found this sword when doing a clean out with a friend. The old lady who lived there had died and the family wanted the place cleared out to sell. They took what they wanted and said we could have (or dispose of) anything left. The sword is in good condition.
Emblems on the hilt are a crown, and a heraldry shield with three lions passant and three antlers. The maker is Pack and Ohliger, (PO&Co) Solingen, Germany.
The knuckle guard folds in for wearing the sword. It has a leather finger loop inside the handle. The monogram on the pommel looks like an P (or R) and K ... maybe another letter?
Is this from a military school or other group? Age? Any particular value?

this appears to be an M1889 military sword from Germany made in the mid 1800s to early 1900s value is subjective and entirely based on various factors blade condition does it have any chips, bends or damage to the blade is the handle loose and having a scabbard is a plus.
your probably looking at somewhere around $300 to $500 in value if no serius damage to the blade and nothing is loose.

There were lots of German states and I don't know these well. Way late for my studies. Look to see if Germania is still posting and put it in the Levine room anyway (cross post)

My neck hurts, so

What I see

Imperial Prussian Wurttenburg 1889 infantry degen. Between 1910 and 1918. It would not be slightly later Weimar era, due to the Prussian association.

Cheers

I finally recognized the monogram It is Charles I of Wurttemberg 1864-1891. Karl Frederich Alexander (Charles 1) was the king before Wilhem Karl Paul Heindrich Frederich (William II), who was the last king of Wurttemberg.
Since it is an 1889 pattern, it was made between 1989 and 1891. Considering the good condition, I put the value around $500

So, final description:
Pattern 1889 Prussian Infantry Officers dagen sword with folding guard. Reign of Charles 1, circa 1889-1891. Pack and Ohliger, (PO&Co) Solingen, Germany.
