Help identify makers mark? Damascus fixed blade

I hope I chose the correct sub-forum but I'm trying to identify this name and knife. I'd sure appreciate any help that you can offer. Looks like J.A. (Something)

It looks like this was made by an amateur hobbyist, and I don't think that's a makers mark but rather part of the forging process.
Look at the ricasso and where the jimping starts , there are other black spots like these.

I don't think it is.
These just look like voids in the steel.
